Rai Other Religions Without Pleading Islamic Creed

hari raya aidilfitri

God made people of multiple races and religions to get to know each other Islam also teaches its people to live with mutual respect and tolerance.

Islam strictly forbids any form of oppression against other people of different religions and cultures The reason is that every human being has the right to live and practice their own religion.

Freedom of religion is guaranteed in Islam in line with verse 256 of surah al-baqarah which means: There is no compulsion in religion At the same time, Muslims should stick to the true Islamic faith and not be easily influenced by any element that can damage the faith.

However, many of us are confused as to what are the limits allowed by religion in treating people with different beliefs In this case, It should be clear that Islam forbids any involvement in other religious activities that may damage the faith whether in other religious worship rituals performed in temples, houses of worship or anywhere else.

This ban by consensus was mentioned by Ibn Al Qayyum in his book, Ahkam Ahli Zimmah Most scholars in the past strongly forbade celebrating other religious festivals based on the hadith of the Prophet SAW which strictly states that the only festivals for Muslims are Hari Raya Aidil Adha and Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Any other religious celebration and celebration that is not in the sunnah and hadith is prohibited This prohibition includes the act of participating in religious rituals either in the house of worship of followers of other religions or in any place at all.

Wearing special clothes for religious events, using religious symbols, preparing or eating special food and drinks that are recited religious mantras, reading and singing religious readings and any act that magnifies the God of other religions This strict prohibition is based on the hadith of Ibn Umar that the Prophet SAW said which means; Whoever imitates the actions of other people, then he is part of them.

What is the meaning of the ban on imitating other religions? Hadith experts explain the meaning of the strict prohibition of imitating other religions from the point of view of lifestyle, dress, conversation, celebrations and religious activities that are not in line with syar'a This strict prohibition is because it is feared that it will pollute the Muslim faith.

However, the generic way of life practiced by all humans on the face of the earth regardless of religion and race is accepted For example, wearing pants, formal or casual attire that does not promote other religions is acceptable.

Culture that symbolizes a perverted way of life such as free sex, promiscuous sex and free hedonism without religion is prohibited This includes the use of symbols of a way of life that is clearly against the Sharia.

Acts such as wearing special monk or priest clothes on festival days, wearing certain religious symbols on the body, special festival food or reading special readings praising God of other religions are prohibited even with the intention of celebrating and feeling togetherness with friends and fellow believers of other religions In addition to the clear prohibition from the hadith, the scholars strongly forbid this act as a method to cover the path of evil or sad al-zara'ie.

Unlimited openness is feared to cause confusion in religious life, especially for children and those who do not have the foundation of religious knowledge Ultimately causing the mixing of worship and customs with other religions thus affecting the Muslim faith.

For example, hoping to Santa Claus to get a dream gift, expressing gratitude to the God of other religions for agricultural results and wealth and wearing a rope of hope that becomes a support This act is forbidden in Islam.

Basically, any actions and speech to followers of other religions should not have the characteristics of recognizing the religion in question It is feared that words and actions will lead to polytheism by promoting other religions and rituals.

However, Islam does not prevent us from saying something that pleases religious believers such as saying "Happy holidays" and others However, human life today shows a very different way of life.

People of multiple races and religions live together and need each other There is almost no country that has only one nation with one belief.

Therefore, every member of the community should play a role in ensuring the harmonious life of multiple races with mutual respect Prejudice and hatred should be avoided.

The question is, how should we be tolerant in matters involving faith? Even if the way of life of other religions is strictly prohibited in our religion, such as idolatry, drinking alcohol, eating unslaughtered and impure animals, it does not mean that we can criticize their religion The Prophet strictly forbids insulting God of other religions, This includes insulting food, drink, clothes and rituals of other religions aimed at insulting them.

It was forbidden because it would lead to counter-attacks and terrible hostilities as is the case today Differences in faith are not a license to insult and degrade other religions.

But it does not mean that we do things that recognize other religions It is not wrong that we congratulate them on their celebration and joy, but we do not participate in their rituals.

It is not wrong for us to eat halal food prepared but not food that is special for religious rituals Be happy with their happiness because we are human beings who respect each other.

But we are not happy with their celebration until we believe our religion is the same as other religions In 2005, the Muzakarah Fatwa Committee of the National Council for Islamic Religious Affairs of Malaysia decided that in determining non-Muslim festivals that Muslims can attend, several main criteria should be used as guidelines so that they do not conflict with Islamic teachings.

The criteria are; The ceremony was not accompanied by ceremonies contrary to the Islamic faith It includes matters, actions, words or circumstances that if done cause the aqeedah of Muslims to be contaminated.
