Fathul Bari Ready to Challenge Azlan to Seize the Position of Kangar Division UMNO Leader

KANGAR: Datuk Dr Fathul Bari Mat Jahya volunteered to run for the position of umno kangar division Leader and is ready to challenge the incumbent, Datuk Seri Azlan Man in the party's election starting this month.

Azlan is expected to defend the position of umno kangar division Chief even though he has not yet made any decision about it Speaking to Utusan Malaysia, the Deputy Head of umno kangar division said that the desire to volunteer was also to respect democracy within the party which opened up space for competition.

In addition, he said, if given the opportunity to lead the UMNO Division, he also has specific plans in an effort to revive the party after losing 18-0 in the 15th General Election (GE15) which was described as the worst in the history of the party in the state this.

"We want to ensure that UMNO rises again in a respectable and stronger state in the face of GE16 which is seen as more challenging "Without losing an iota of respect for the existing leaders and as a response to respect for democracy within the party which opens up space for competition, I volunteered to run for the position of umno kangar division Chief," he said.

UMNO will hold party elections from February 1 to March 18 at all levels to comply with the constitutional amendment approved by the Registration of Societies Department (RoS) UMNO Secretary General, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan is reported to have said that the election will involve 22,000 branches and 191 UMNO divisions across the country including the suspended divisions.

For the record, Azlan who is also the Chairman of the State UMNO Liaison Body and former Menteri Besar has led umno kangar division since 2014 In GE15, UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN) lost control of the state government for the first time and failed to win even a single seat in the election.

"I am doing my best and God-willing if I am given the opportunity to lead UMNO Division, I will ensure that the welfare of UMNO members is maintained in addition to organizing the work of the party to be more orderly and smooth," he said When asked if he was ready to run for the position of umno youth leader in the next election, Fathul Bari said he was still considering the matter.
